YI: EUN YOUNG YI. STUTGART CITY LIBRARY

The new library in Stuttgart (southern Germany), the first public building in the newly planned Europaviertel quarter, is beginning to take shape. The cube, designed by the Korean architect Eun Young Yi, is a striking urban landmark: a precise cube with an almost archaic shape made up of several repetitive cubic patterns. The new library will be an inspirational house for learning and culture, creating a focal point and stimulating element in the new quarter. Around 1.2 million visitors a year are expected. The exceptional architecture and innovative library concept have already gained international recognition.
