VIRTUAL GALLERY 1 (CD-ROM)

Over the past few years Autograph, the Association of Black Photographers, has actively promoted and been a passionate advocate for the rich and diverse range of black photographic practices world-wide. This they do through a variety of activities, the latest of which is this brilliant CD, Virtual Gallery 1. Established as a site free from the financial burdens of building development and heavy capital expenditure, it is aimed at providing a permanent resource for the activities of Autograph.
Autograph has constructed a new environment that allows the staging of exhibitions and the production of publications in a virtual permanent home - a space that challenges the traditional forms of presenting photography within the confines of the white cube. Visitors to the Virtual Gallery can click on any of the above photographers, and then zoom in and out of a selection of their work. A fascinating way to see an exhibition. The Virtual Gallery has been developed in association with Pod Productions, one of the country's leading new media and environmental architectural designers.
