La transición hacia un mundo predominantemente urbano es incuestionable, y con ello, la necesidad de contar con instrumentos conceptuales y técnicos que contribuyan a la consecución de los objetivos propuestos por UN-Habitat para los asentamientos humanos del siglo XXI: ciudades compactas, socialmente inclusivas, mejor integradas y conectadas, que fomenten el desarrollo urbano sostenible y sean resistentes al cambio climático. Estos objetivos refuerzan la visión de los proyectos destinados a conformar el entorno físico de las ciudades. Para los diseñadores urbanos, la creación de espacios para la vida colectiva implica el uso de una amplia gama de conceptos y recursos que apoyan la concepción de proyectos innovadores y su implementación en la práctica. Temas de Diseño Urbano reseña los criterios de planificación y diseño empleados en el proceso de elaboración del proyecto urbano, atendiendo al impacto que el tratamiento y el contenido de los espacios públicos y las áreas edificadas tendrán en los futuros tejidos urbanos y sus habitantes. El libro tiene carácter introductorio y está especialmente dirigido a estudiantes universitarios cuyas áreas de conocimientos incluyen estos aspectos. Urban Design Issues outlines the planning and design criteria employed in the process of developing the urban project, taking into account the impact that the treatment and content of public spaces and built up areas will have on the future urban fabrics and their inhabitants. The book has an introductory character and is especially aimed at university students whose areas of knowledge include these aspects.
