The "Modern Movement" series introduces many important modernist buildings that influenced modern Japanese architecture through photographs and drawings. This is the sixth installment by Takamasa Yoshizaka. From his childhood mountaineering experience in Switzerland to joining the mountaineering club at university, Yoshizaka is said to have been more passionate about mountaineering than architecture, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount McKinley. The knowledge he gained from nature, which he risked his life for, led to the creation of unique architecture that does not resist the harsh nature. Many drawings, sketches, and photographs are used to introduce the mountain architecture that Yoshizaka, who loved mountains above all else, and the members of the U Laboratory, who came together through their connection with mountains, worked on. In addition to actual examples such as Karasawa Hut, Kurosawaji Hut, Nozawa Onsen Lodge, Toyama Prefectural Tateyamaso, New Fusaji, Daikanbo Station Expansion and Renovation, and Kurobedaira Station Expansion and Renovation, various plans are also included.
