The Nordic version of modernism during the 1906s and '70s had certain characteristics that are of increasing interest to international architectural historians today. Of particular significance in this series of investigations is the relation between Nordic lands and the Baltic states during Soviet times, not only in terms of political comparisons but also because of the questions raised regarding modernisms dependence on the concept of a planned society.
