-The shelf is not simply a form of display - in Bruther's work it becomes an organic entity in its own right. It tells of the studio's past but at the same time contains a stock of 'saplings' that benefit the practice of experimental architects and point to future works of architecture. Rather than taking a retrospective look at their practice, Bruther initiate an ongoing inquiry into their work, resulting in a book in the form of a stack. Each side is a composition and invites you to take a visual stroll through the temporal and formal games of stratification and sedimentation. It is important for the architects to keep looking at them, because they want to be surprised by their own forms. Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot founded the Bruther office in Paris in 2007. Bruther's projects strip design down to the essentials, devoting themselves to the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscape, research and teaching.
