After examining the theories on the complexity and ambiguity of borders put forward by the biologist Gould and the sociologist Sennett, Lotus brings these ideas to bear on architecture and the anthropized territory and discovers some specific manifestations of boundaries and borders in certain expressions of planning and design. These can be found in the way a building is conceived, in the representation and interpretation of the idea of a junction and in the shaping of a terminal or a riverfront, as well as when we observe the fascination of situations in which a genuine diffusion takes place, making the border disappear.
