The interval'as interruption and pause'rouses a degree of apprehension in those who are uncomfortable with not knowing the outcome of things and find themselves in a gap that needs to be filled. All the same, some architects have found a particular zone of freedom in situations of interval and have grasped unexpected opportunities by acting in a sort of no man's land. In the present panorama we can see actions and approaches that operate more or less consciously in this state of suspension and intermission. In reality, given that they occupy apparently remote areas, these works take on a special force in our eyes, one that is distant from a great many of the proposals made to occupy center stage.
