A collective founded in 1997 and based in Brussels, LAb[au] is a dynamic interdisciplinary art studio for architecture and urbanism, creating interactive artworks, audiovisual performances and its own software and interfaces. The name LAb[au] is a pun inspired partly by the Bauhaus, whose methodological and experimental reflection on the industrialisation of art helped to inspire the group. Their first monograph presents an important selection of the group's artworks, which they term MetaDeSIGN; an approach characterised by the establishing of systems and processes, whose new rules and geometries become the principle artistic creation
