Completed in 1966 under the design of Kikutake Kiyonori, Miyakonojo Civic Hall is considered one of the masterpieces of Metabolist architecture. After it closed in 2007, there were active efforts to preserve it, including signature campaigns and symposiums, but the decision to demolish it was finally decided, and demolition work began in July 2019. This book preserves the appearance of this disappearing Metabolist building as a reference, combining valuable drawings and photographs from the time of completion, as well as photographs from before its demolition.
