The four DVDs in this boxed set are part of the Urban Century cross-medial festival that the VPRO is presenting in cooperation with the 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam in September and October 2009 via radio, television, internet and in the VPRO programming guide. For the first time in history, more than half of the world's population lives in cities - often in slums - and global migration to the cities is ongoing. Living in the city has become the dominant way of life worldwide. The city is no longer just a dot on the map; it is a way of life.
