The book presents the eleven internationally important and the fifty-nine nationally important works of modern architecture selected by the DOCOMOMO Finland working party. The selection includes several individual masterpieces built in the period from the end of the 1920s to the 1970s. The selection also acknowledges representatives of different types of buildings such as, various buildings of the Helsinki Olympics and the power stations built along the Oulujoki River. The selection of buildings and sites indeed reflects well the ambition of a young nation to mould its identity with the help of architecture.
