Architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. Since 2003, the prize has been awarded by architekturbild e.v., a non-profit organization, and since 2008 in cooperation with the German Architecture Museum, Frankfurt. The title 'in between' refers back to the theme of 'Architecture in Context' (1999) - but as a reversal, not a repetition. This time, the emphasis is on what lies between, be it disturbing and divisive or connecting and communicative. It is less about things themselves than the cement that holds them together and - ideally - creates a surprising new whole. The possibilities range from the tiniest detail to town planning. Photographers from 15 countries took part, with prizes awarded to work from Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain , Sweden, Switzerland and Japan. This confirms the worldwide reach of the European Architectural Photography Prize.
