This exciting book presents a selection of signature works by European and American artists of the postwar generations, drawn from The UBS Art Collection - one of the richest and most varied corporate holdings of international contemporary art in the United States. This unique publication accompanies an exhibition of seventy-four of these outstanding artworks, including forty-four that were donated to The Museum of Modern Art in 2002. The MoMA exhibition is scheduled to run from 4 February to 2 May 2005. The works reproduced in this volume include paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and mixed-media works by a variety of significant artists, including Joseph Beuys, Chuck Close, Jasper Johns, Anselm Kiefer, Brice Marden, Robert Rauschenberg, Susan Rothenberg, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol. The book also contains interviews between Ann Temkin and eleven artists, including Damien Hirst, Lorna Simpson, Ed Ruscha and Robert Ryman, in which they discuss the origins of their ideas, their working methods and other subjects.
