Georges Braque (1882 - 1963) is among the painters who had a huge impact on the development of twentieth-century art. From the very beginning of his brilliant career, he made an active contribution to the two major artistic movements of the early part of the century: Fauvism and more particularly, Cubism. It was Braque - along with Picasso - who laid the foundations for the Cubist movement. This book, cataloguing the exhibition "Georges Braque: Order and Emotion," promoted by the Goulandris Foundation, features three essays on the man and his work: Georges Braque - The Calm Force of Avant-Garde Art by Kyriakos Koutsomallis, Georges Braque's Still Lifes by Isabelle Monod-Fontaine and Works and Days of Georges Braque - The Greece of His Dreams by Michel Enrici.
