Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) is regarded as one of the 20th century's greatest Danish architects. Although he established his international reputation mainly in furniture design, having produced some of the world's most recognisable and sought-after chairs, he also ranks as a master of modern architecture. He painted watercolours, took an active interest in new building and production methods, and experimented with new materials in order to realise his vision.
