From 1918 onwards, Le Corbusier was engaged in conceiving and generating the idea of Purism - an activity he undertook in conjunction with the painter Amédée Ozenfant. These reflections on the relationship between form and colour led to the determination of a specific palette that has been consistently referred to throughout the course of the 20th century. This book examines the way in which the architect arrived at this distinctly personal architectonic polychromy in the early 1920s.
