Resumen del libro

Houses in Finland presents the best of Finnish detached house architecture in recent years through 33 individually designed homes.
Each house is presented through photographs and drawings as well as a text written by the architect who designed it.
A wide range of detached houses for a variety of residents with different incomes has been selected for the book, telling about the diversity that exists in the architecture of the contemporary Finnish house.
The houses differ both from the mainstream of single-family housing construction and from each other; they are in different sizes and shapes due to the fact that the architects have designed them in accordance with the inhabitants wishes.
The houses in the book show the wide range of forms and scales of Finnish architecture, as well as imaginative and unique solutions, applications relating to tradition as well as beautiful, functional and light-filled spaces.
The houses have been skillfully positioned on their plots, respectful of the surrounding trees. The floor plans are functional and natural light is utilised in a way that best suits each individual space. The connection to their gardens is natural, and at their best exterior and interior are interlinked.
The article prefacing the selection of houses describes the long history of the architecture of Finnish detached houses, the changes in living styles as well as sustainable construction solutions.
